Flax,Essence of Natural Fibers

Flax, a natural bast fiber, has a fiber length of about 25 mm to 150 mm and can be divided into two varieties: short bundles of fibers for coarser fabrics and long fibers for finer fabrics. We can identify flax fibers by their "knotches" that add flexibility and texture to the linen fabric.

Since the Neolithic period about 10,000 years ago, the plant flax has been cultivated for its fibers, hence the name "fiber crop" or "fibrous plant". The flax fiber was used as a textile raw material to make rope, weaving yarn, and later a fashion.

The natural hammer-like structure of flax fiber and the unique pectin hypotenuse hole structure have achieved its characteristics of moisture absorption and heat dissipation, breathable heat preservation, health care and antibacterial, antifouling and antistatic properties.

A characteristic of natural fibers - the presence of "knots", or small, soft, irregular lumps that appear randomly along the length of the yarn - can be seen in linen yarn spun from flax fibers.

In the past, "nodules" were often considered a defect. However, in many linen categories today, especially in the upholstered furniture industry and independent fashion designers, these knots are considered part of the aesthetic appeal of an expensive natural product. Furthermore, nodules do not compromise the integrity of the linen fabric, but are the best evidence of natural flax fibers.

Linen fabric feels cool to the touch, she is smooth, makes the finished fabric lint-free, and gets softer with more washes. Wearing linen fabric in summer can lower the skin temperature by 4-8°C, so linen is known as "natural air conditioner".

The strength of flax is 2-3 times that of cotton, strong and wear-resistant is another characteristic of flax as a natural fiber.

We know that mold, sweat, or liquids containing acid and alkali can damage fabrics, but because flax is not an animal fiber and does not contain keratin, it is not affected by moths, nor is it plagued by bacteria and fungi.

On the contrary, linen fabric is relatively easy to maintain and has strong self-cleaning ability. It resists dirt and stains and has no tendency to fluff or pill. It can be washed by hand, machine or water, and cleaning and maintenance are also very simple and easy.

The flax fabric biodegrades after being buried in the soil for a few weeks. During the cultivation process, flax uses only 50% of the water used by cotton, no pesticides are used, and the flax fiber can be processed without the use of chemicals. Why flax is the more sustainable choice.

Flax fiber is one of the world-recognized perfect natural fibers, accounting for only 1.5% of the total amount of natural fibers. Because of its natural, simple, rare, natural and noble colors, it is known as "The Queen of Natural Fibers".
